The lyrics of a song by Vigri triggered the memory of a dream I had in middle school that still gives me goosebumps to this day.

The Dream:

I was standing on a patio on a windy night. A ton of wind chimes, hanging somewhere out in the surrounding forest, were jangling loudly and angrily. I couldn't see far beyond the patio, as it was the only space that was lit. Then, from out of the forest, creatures of various shapes and sizes emerged. More and more kept coming, steadily walking toward me without fear. At first I was awed, but my amazement soon turned to terror as I felt some great dark force was moving toward me with the animals. I fled into the house and ran from room to room, slamming doors behind me. I knew someone -- something -- was pursuing me. I ran into a room where someone I thought I knew was seated. She was wearing a cloak with the hood pulled over her head. I asked if she was dressed as a character from a story. "No, I am _____," she said to me. (I can't for the life of me remember the name. It was long and unfamiliar.)
I said, "I may not know your name, but I know who you are."
"That's very interesting, Kara," she teased with a knowing look and a small smirk.

That's when I woke up, still filled with fear. I had the sense that there was something present in the room that didn't belong there, something that I could only describe as not-quite-in-the-room. I struggled to get over the feeling and get back to sleep. It wasn't easy.
When morning came, I turned on the lights and walked directly to the cage of my pet rat. Even before I saw him, I knew that he had died. That day I struggled not to cry in the school library as I told my good friend about the dream and what had happened. A teacher approached and asked if I was okay. I smiled and said "I'm fine, thanks." I turned my eyes away, wanting to hide.

The Song: Animals

Artist: Vigri
Lyrics:
I know how to hide when I am stuck in the air
I disappear like nothing had happened
Then the animals trip down the road into your eyes
Some fall some fade like hours that turn to a night
Have a nice day
Have a nice day
I know how to hide when I am stuck here in this seat
I disappear on my way to somewhere
Then the animal trips down the road into your eye
Some fall some fade like hours that turn to a night
Have a nice day
Have a nice
